I’ve always been fascinated by the aura of power and confidence that certain people give off without them having to say anything. You know, those people who walk into a room and immediately grab people’s attention. They don’t have to showboat, peacock, be loud or boisterous, or do anything else to draw attention to themselves. All they have to do is show up, and sometimes without them saying a word, immediately people can feel their power and are subsequently drawn to them. Read more…

Happy New Year everyone! I wish you all a happy, prosperous 2015. I hope that you all receive major breakthroughs this year in the areas that you’ve been actively working on for results.
It was when I was 20 years old that I first discovered the importance of enjoying spending time alone with myself. Before that, whenever I would spend time with myself, it was more because I was “forced” to because friends of mine I normally hung with had other plans or because I would get in one of my depression modes that was characteristic of my late teens when I didn’t care to hang out with anyone, I just wanted to either brood and sulk or wish death on the entire world (hey, forgive me…I had issues 🙂 ). I’ve heard countless gurus, successful people, life coaches, etc. credit their use of affirmations as the reason why they were able to turn their lives around and become successful.
I’ve further been advised by a few coaches that if I wanted to become the person necessary to attract the life I wanted, to use affirmations.
There are many people who swear by them as the cornerstone of their daily personal development routine.
I’m sure if you’ve read any self-improvement books, you must’ve heard something mentioned about them.
People have credited them with helping them eliminate their insecurities, become more confident, think more positive, remove mental blocks, change limiting beliefs, eliminate bad habits, make more money, etc, etc. Read more…

I remember reading about an interesting story (well to me at least because of its implications) where there was this girl who when watching her mother cook, noticed that right before she would put a chicken she was about to bake into the oven, she’d cut off the ends of the legs. One day, after seeing her mother do this so many times, curiosity got the best of her and she asked her mother why she cut the ends of the chicken legs off before she put the chicken into the oven, and her mother, after thinking for a bit, responded that she didn’t know, that she learned it from watching her mother, who did the same thing. I’ve told this story in another blog of mine titled M.A.R.R.I.A.G.E. – Has society sold us a lie?, but it bears repeating for the sake of this blog.
Years ago, I met this Korean guy who had just started work at my office (well, he was born here but his parents were born in Korea).
In a conversation I overheard between him and another co-worker, he was telling him how he didn’t believe in interracial relationships and that he was going to marry someone from his own culture. In fact, his current girlfriend was from Korea as well. Read more…

I was watching this documentary recently called, “The Living Matrix” which in a nutshell was about alternative forms of healing. On it, there was a particular segment about a woman who had divorced her husband because while she wanted kids, he didn’t want any. After her divorce, she made plans on eventually getting remarried and having two kids, but in the middle of her plans, she found out she had ovarian cancer, and one of the consequences of ovarian cancer was infertility, i.e. she couldn’t have kids. A few weeks ago, I was talking to a friend of mine who was telling me about yet another relationship he had gotten into with a woman whose red flags that were indicated to him in the beginning had begun to degenerate into full blown dysfunction in the relationship. I wasn’t surprised because this was nothing new with him. Just about every one of the women he had gotten involved with since I had known him was majorly broken in some way and all types of drama would eventually ensue because of it. Read more…

In life, we all know of many people who have a load of issues in their lives with legitimate excuses as to why they’re messed up.
“My mother threw me down the stairs.”
“My father abandoned us.”
“My parents never made me feel loved.” Read more…

I was talking to a close friend recently, and she was telling me about a friend of hers who had a successful physical therapy practice in Brazil. She was quite well off financially, but she was extremely negative, unhappy, and always complaining about her life. In her head, her life was horrible and she was never happy with what she had. She said her external life reflected her behaviour in that it was a mess. Read more…

I remember in the 90s, when my friends wanted to roll to the “weed spot” to cop some weed, they talked of this one place they patronized that was for all intents and purposes a bodega. In the back of the bodega there was a bathroom which had a medicine cabinet with a mirror that opened. When you opened the door to the medicine cabinet you’d see a wooden wall. If you were to knock several times on the wall, someone from behind the wall would open a slit in the wall and ask you what you wanted, and you’d order your weed. He’d then get the weed, you’d pass your money through the slit and he’d in turn hand you your stash, and then you’d leave the store. Read more…
