So, I’m still riding high from completing my last event about a week ago called, “Expressions of Divinity” – Ike Love Holiday Showcase/Reception. I have this feeling that I can accomplish anything I put my mind AND my heart to, and I’m looking forward for the next step on my journey. Due to the momentum I feel, I’m looking to take on bigger endeavours, and also looking to working on areas that I was hitherto intimidated to face.
As I continue to reflect on the event, I’ve come to see how the “mystery” of my own purpose is unraveling through a combination of harnessing my gifts, pursuing my passions, overcoming my obstacles and delving into areas that pique my curiosity. These different components, and how I came upon each of them are starting to reveal to me the bigger picture and show me everything happens for a reason. Read more…
Things have gotten a little interesting in my life.
As I’ve been consistently moving towards my goals, and sharing my progress, my challenges and successes with people, I’ve been getting various people from social media, some completely unexpected and random, as well as people face-to-face telling me how much I’m an inspiration to them and how much of an amazing person I am. I believe that many people confuse having confidence and having self-esteem as one in the same thing. I used to be one of those people. You can have confidence without having any self esteem and you can have self-esteem without having any confidence in a particular area. Obviously though, it’s good to have BOTH. Read more…
It’s that time of the week where I write about something else I’ve noticed over the years that utterly fascinates me.
Everybody walking this planet has some unique gift or talent that if they harnessed fully can change the person’s immediate surrounding, or his family, community or the world at large, not to mention his (or her) very own life. Read more…
A friend of mine called me the other day from the JFK airport while waiting to board a plane to Europe that was delayed indefinitely due to mechanical issues. The trip he was making was a gift to himself for his 40th birthday. Since he had ample time to spare we had plenty of time to catch up.
During the conversation, one of the subjects we discussed was the fact that he was traveling to Europe totally alone, without the company of family, friends, co-workers or a significant other. Read more…
I credit the book, “The Way of the Superior Man,” by David Deida as one of the books I’ve read that changed my perspective on life. However, over the years as I’ve reread it, the one chapter I tended to skip was titled, “Live as If Your Father Is Dead.” To me, the title sounded kind of harsh. I mean, after all, who would want to think of one of their parents as being dead? The title made me uncomfortable so despite my desire to soak up knowledge and gain insight, I avoided this one altogether. Read more…
